Modern Slavery Statement

Slavery and human trafficking remains a hidden blight on our global society. We all have a responsibility to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and in the wider supply chain.

Our focus on slavery and human trafficking is part of a larger effort to encourage supply chain transparency and accountability. We will not tolerate forced, bonded (including debt bondage) or indentured labour, involuntary prison labour, slavery, or trafficking of persons (referred to in this policy as “Modern Slavery”) by any Wockhardt UK supplier or for any other purpose. We also ensure transparency internally within Wockhardt UK, by ensuring our internal policies are in line with the Modern Slavery act and delivering cascade training to our employees on the relevant policies.

As a result of this training, we are confident that all our employees are fully equipped to challenge anything which they believe goes against this ethos and in turn, those who they raise their challenge with are required to act.

OUR POLICIES ON SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

We are committed to ensuring that there is no Modern Slavery in our supply chains, internally or in any part of our business. Our Modern Day Slavery policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and  to our employees and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure Modern Slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.

TRAINING

As well as having a policy in place, we recognise that a key part of that commitment is giving employees the necessary tools to enable them to identify potential issues and act upon them.

To ensure this high level of understanding of the risks of Modern Slavery in our supply chains and our business, Modern Day Slavery training awareness has been rolled out to all employees; so that everyone in the business has an understanding what Modern Slavery is all about. 

OUR SUPPLY CHAINS   

Our supply chain includes the sourcing of raw materials and it is principally but not wholly related to the provision of pharmaceuticals

Each and every supplier has received from us a statement setting out our expectations and their obligations with regard to our prohibition of Modern Slavery. Should a supplier fail to meet our expectations then the company will need to investigate and strong actions will be taken against the supplier.   

DUE DILIGENCE PROCESSES FOR SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we make clear our expectations of business behaviour;

With regards to national or international supply chains, our point of contact is preferably with a UK company or branch and we expect these entities to have and provide us with full details of measures they are taking to combat Modern Slavery.

As a minimum we insist that each entity in the chain should, at least, adopt a ‘one-up’ due diligence on the next link in the chain.

We have in place systems to encourage the reporting of concerns and the protection of whistle blowers, and our employees are suitably trained.

SUPPLIER ADHERENCE TO OUR VALUES

We have zero tolerance to Modern Slavery.  We insist that all those in our supply chain and contractors comply with our values.

The Directors are responsible for compliance in their respective departments and for their supplier relationships.

OUR EFFECTIVENESS IN COMBATING SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been to ensure that Modern Slavery is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:

  • Completion of House Audits by Managers;
  • Use of labour monitoring and payroll systems;
  • Level of communication and personal contact with supply chain and their understanding of, and compliance with, our expectations.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our group's slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year
