proportion of the Wockhardt UK range. The treatment of Infections
is an important therapy area for our business and is also a key clinical
focus for our global research facility.
Injectable Anti-infectives
Our injectable anti-infectives are used predominantly in the hospital setting
and we currently supply the following products to the UK market:
Penicillins:
- Flucloxacillin
- Amoxicillin
- Co-Amoxiclav
- Co-Fluampicil
Cephalosporins:
- Cefotaxime
- Ceftazidime
- Ceftriaxone
Oral Anti-infectives
Wockhardt UK also produces oral anti-infectives, which are commonly
prescribed for the treatment of bacterial, fungal, viral or
protozoal infections. Our product range includes tablets, syrup
and capsules.
New Chemical Entities
The New Drug Discovery team at Wockhardt has developed a number of lead molecules
in the anti-infective field. One broad-spectrum antibiotic proven effective
in treating staphylococcal infections is currently undergoing Phase II
clinical trials. Another promising molecule for the treatment of respiratory-tract
infections is at Phase 1. Three further molecules are progressing through
pre-clinical development, all in all ensuring an exciting product pipeline
for this area of the Wockhardt UK business.
